"(Indian) Furs" is the first from a series of sound works based on the field recordings technique, made exclusively with sounds recorded in a specific area of the world. The project takes its name from the furry cover that is applied on microphones as wind protection, together with the area where the sounds were sampled: the first part is India indeed, where the artist has traveled in Summer 2016 , between Rajasthan’s vilages, Uttar Pradesh’s ruins and Kerala’s mangroves.
Released after “Novanta” (Fresh Yo! - 42 Records, 2015), a concept album focused on the theme of the metropolis as intersection point between different cultures and related sounds, "(Indian) Furs" is another gaze on world’s musical traditions; instead, it explores them individually each time, recording the sound of religious processions, taxi radios, night birds. The succession of the two productions underlines a complementary relationship, where the melting pot is opposed to the specificity of a tradition, the urban landscape to the natural one. These recent Go Dugong’s productions thus testify a sincere and rational path, of artistic introspection as much as musical deepening.
"(Indian) Furs" is a journey in which a Zoom H4n is the diary, continuously recording voices and noises, both human and animal. This taxonomic archive made of raw sounds, now filtered through effects and loops - with a way more instinctive approach compared to previous productions - creates a vivid and dark stratification. Ceremonial drums and fornicating Cicadidae blend into a hypnotic pattern: a frantic nature cycle alternating wonder and bestiality, chaos as the primordial balance.

Pubblicato dopo "Novanta" (Fresh Yo!
